Shenandoah Announces 139 Student-Athletes Inducted To Chi Alpha Sigma

The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on March 16 that 139 SU student-athletes are the inaugural inductees into its Pi chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma national collegiate athlete honor society. Chi Alpha Sigma was started in 1996 as a way to recognize the academic achievements of student-athletes around the country. It's open to all student-athletes who have earned at least a 3.4 GPA and have junior academic standing following their fifth semester of study.

Two Shenandoah University Indoor Track and Field Athletes Earn All-America Honors

The Shenandoah University indoor track & field teams added two more All-Americans to its annals on March 10-11 at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, as graduate student Tucker Kindig (weight throw) and senior Miles Moore (200-meter dash) each achieved the honor.

Earning the honors were Tucker Kindig (shot put and weight throws), William Crowder (60 meters), Miles Moore (200 meters), Kiara Felston (weight throw) and Kaitlin Measell (long jump).

Shenandoah University Athletic Training Students Excel at VATA Annual Meeting

Shenandoah University Division of Athletic Training graduate students Cade Watts, Molly Sobolewski, Chloe Tannenbaum and Meghan Flaherty earned first place in the Student Quiz Bowl, a "Jeopardy"-style competition featuring athletic training programs from Virginia, at the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association (VATA) Annual Meeting on Jan. 13-15 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Watts also won the Professional Athletic Training Student Research Award for his presentation, "Relationship Between Sports-Related Concussion and Cervical Muscle Strength."

Shenandoah University Chooses New Members for Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society

Shenandoah University inducted 21 students and alums into the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) national leadership honor society on Sunday, Jan. 29. Juniors, seniors, graduate students and alums were nominated by faculty and staff for excelling in both leadership and academics, and members were selected to ODK through an application process. SU Vice President of Student Affairs Yolanda Barbier Gibson, D.A., was inducted as an Horonis Causa, or honorary member, for her endless commitment to student development, leadership, and service to the Winchester community. Students selected to be a member of Omicron Delta Kappa must meet the honor society's leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship and service. Additionally, they must be in the top 35% of their class and demonstrate leadership in at least one of the five pillars of campus life: academics, athletics, service, communications and arts.
