Shenandoah University Sport Management Students Work NCAA DI Wrestling Championships

From March 20-22, three of Shenandoah University's sport management students attended the NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling National Championships held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Brian Wigley, Ed.D., chair of the Division of Sport Management & Esports, accompanied them on the experiential learning trip. Students Cody Carbaugh '25, Tyler Garr '26 and Sam Tighe '28 volunteered at the championship by helping fans enter the arena safely, directing them to their seats, and answering questions about the event's timeline.

Shenandoah University's Global Citizenship Project Sends Students To Poland

During spring break, Shenandoah University sent a group of 10 students, faculty and staff to Poland as a part of its Global Citizenship Project (GCP) program. Shenandoah University's Global Citizenship Project celebrated its 20th year in 2025 and sent students, faculty and staff members to Colombia, Nepal, Poland, Taiwan and Tanzania this spring. Since its inaugural year in 2005, GCP has sent over 1,400 students, staff, faculty, and trustees to over 70 countries and seven U.S. states and territories so that each participant might learn more about the world and themselves. Shenandoah University Students Travel To Colombia As Part Of The Global Citizenship Project

During spring break, Shenandoah University sent 10 students, faculty and staff members to Colombia as a part of its Global Citizenship Project (GCP). During the trip, the group visited seven different cities, took five flights, and explored various ecosystems and regions of the country. Shenandoah University's Global Citizenship Project celebrated its 20th year in 2025 and sent students, faculty and staff members to Colombia, Nepal, Poland, Taiwan and Tanzania this spring. Shenandoah University's Global Citizenship Project Takes a Group of Students to Taiwan

Over spring break, a group of 10 Shenandoah University students, faculty, and staff members embarked on a Global Citizenship Project (GCP) trip to Taiwan. During the trip, the group toured a number of historical sights, engaged with locals, and participated in cultural exchange, creating lifelong memories and learning about Taiwanese culture. Shenandoah's Global Citizenship Project celebrated its 20th year in 2025. Shenandoah Student Nets First-Hand Professional Experience At Auburn-Purdue Game

Shenandoah University men's basketball player Joshua Randolph '28 gained some first-hand sport management experience when he traveled to Alabama for the Battle in Birmingham, a high-profile NCAA men's basketball showdown between Auburn and Purdue at Legacy Arena in the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex, on Dec. 21. Randolph - who was joined by Fritz Polite, Ph.D., director of academic success and experiential learning for Shenandoah University's men's basketball program - worked directly with Russ Potts Productions, Inc. and gained real-world experience managing luxury suites, skyboxes and team operations, including the oversight of locker room logistics and coordination of the pregame shootaround, according to Shenandoah men's basketball coach Nick Doyle.

Shenandoah Students Gain From Hands-On Orange Bowl Experience

A group of Shenandoah University students gained some hands-on professional experience in sport management when they traveled to Miami for the Orange Bowl, which served as the College Football Playoff semifinal game between Notre Dame and Penn State on Jan. 9. The game, which was played in Hard Rock Stadium, provided Shenandoah's students with the opportunity to work directly with John Mas, senior vice president for partnerships for the Orange Bowl. Their game-day responsibilities included managing the 50/50 raffle, which raised over $80,000 for the Orange Bowl Cares. Students also assisted with setup for the Orange Bowl Fan Fest, which took place prior to kickoff, and they were given field access and a tour of Hard Rock Stadium.

GCP Destinations Announced At Shenandoah University's International Convocation

Shenandoah University announced the destinations for its 2025 Global Citizenship Project during its 34th International Convocation on Nov. 20. During spring break next March, GCP participants will travel to Colombia, Nepal, Poland, Taiwan and Tanzania.

Shenandoah University Announces 2025 Global Citizenship Project Participants

Shenandoah University has announced the 50 individuals who were selected for the 2025 Global Citizenship Project (GCP). Those individuals will travel to one of five international destinations during spring break in March 2025. Participants will learn their destinations and trip leaders at International Convocation on Nov. 20. The Global Citizenship Project will celebrate its 20th year in 2025. Since its inaugural year in 2005, the Global Citizenship Project has sent over 1,400 students, staff, faculty, and trustees to 69 countries and seven U.S. states and territories so that each participant might learn more about the world and themselves. Shenandoah Students Lend A Hand At Indy Classic

Eight Shenandoah University students, including seven members of SU's men's basketball program, gained real-world professional experience when they traveled to Indianapolis for the 2024 Indy Classic, an NCAA Division I men's basketball event that took place in Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Dec. 14. The event featured two games - Texas A&M vs. Purdue and Butler vs. Wisconsin - and provided a professional development opportunity for SU's students, who participated in a VIP reception during which they networked with CEOs, presidents and leaders from various industries; an exclusive Q&A session with Purdue head coach Matt Painter; and event production with the Indiana Pacers' production team, Indiana Sports Corp, and Russ Potts Productions, Inc. Throughout the event, SU's students played pivotal roles in sponsorship activations, prize parachute drops, and fan engagement and logistics while contributing to the overall success of the event.

Shenandoah Students Travel To Indy For NBA All-Star Weekend

Seven Shenandoah University students traveled to Indianapolis on Feb. 16-18 for an experiential learning trip during the NBA's All-Star weekend. The students - Conner Long '26, Janelle Anderson '25, Sean Perry '24, Landon Russ '26, Matt Shakley '26, Kiyah Stewart '24 and Ahvyon Boothe '25 - kicked off their experience with a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse (home of the NBA's Indiana Pacers and WNBA's Indiana Fever) to watch all-star practice on the morning of Saturday, Feb. 17. The students worked in the Volunteer HQ, and spent Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium for a round of all-star activities that included the Kia Skills Challenge, Starry 3-Point Contest, Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu 3-Point Challenge and the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest.

Shenandoah Students Take Experiential Learning Trip To Vegas For Super Bowl LVIII

Twelve sport management students in Shenandoah University's School of Business spent a week in Las Vegas on an experiential learning trip planned around Super Bowl LVIII, which took place at Allegiant Stadium, home to the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders, on Feb. 11. During the trip, which lasted from Feb. 6-13, students had the opportunity to meet with several sports industry professionals and organizations to gain insights into the sports management industry. These included meetings and site visits with the Las Vegas Golden Knights (NHL), University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Athletics, Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), Professional Bull Riders (PBR), the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Las Vegas Ballpark (home of the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's). Shenandoah students also participated in a networking event at UNLV, during which they heard from a panel of sports industry executives and connected with fellow college students from other institutions who were working at the Super Bowl. On Saturday, Feb. 10, the students worked throughout the day at the NFL Fan Experience, and on Sunday, Feb. 11, they gained valuable work experience at the On Location/NFL VIP Pre-Game Parties in the morning and afternoon leading up to the Super Bowl, which ended in the Kansas City Chiefs' 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
